In normal times, Driving south and east out of Hilo you could spend an entire day discovering the Puna District. This area on the eastern tip of Hawaii Island stretches from the sea to the 4,000-foot summit of Kilauea volcano. Most affected is the lower Puna area, on the coast.
Each day, residents there still have no power and are struggling just to live even close to normal lives. The National Guard is helping island police but there is a tremendous need to help out the folks in the Puna District. Small business will need some help as well.
